This rare, larger-scale Italian micromosaic picture frame is part of the Neiman Marcus micromosaic collection, dating to the 1960s–1970s, and is basically midcentury Italian craftsmanship at its most extra. The hand-set glass mosaic border glows in rich cobalt blue, sprinkled with vibrant floral motifs in red, yellow, and green — each tiny tessera individually placed to create that unmistakable luminous sparkle. Inspired by ancient Roman mosaic traditions and revived for the postwar luxury souvenir market, this was the kind of piece meant to catch the eye on a well-styled dressing table or gallery wall. The scalloped silhouette and gilt brass mount bring just the right amount of drama, turning a simple photo frame into a full-blown decorative moment.
