A striking Italian majolica tureen by Cantagalli, hand-painted in a rich palette of cobalt blue, golden yellow, olive green, and soft iron red on a white ground. The rounded form, scroll side handles, and domed lid reflect the Renaissance Revival style that defined Cantagalli’s decorative wares, while the original matching tray completes the set.
Decorated throughout with stylized carnation and floral motifs, this piece was designed as a formal serving tureen for soups or stews, and today makes an exceptional statement on a sideboard, dining table, or display shelf. Maker’s marks are present on the underside. Tureen is 12" handle to handle.
