Rare Midcentury Walnut-Form Brass Nutcracker
Rare Midcentury Walnut-Form Brass Nutcracker
Couldn't load pickup availability
A rare German nutcracker cast entirely in brass and stamped GES. GESCHÜTZT (“legally protected”), a mark used in Germany to denote registered industrial designs. Sculpted in the form of a walnut, this piece is both playful and beautifully engineered—combining mid-century design with Old World craftsmanship.
The richly textured shell opens to reveal a smooth interior and working screw mechanism, making it as functional as it is sculptural. Originally produced for the European market, these novelty nutcrackers were intended to be displayed as decorative objects when not in use—often gifted during the holidays and kept for generations.
