These English Victorian King Charles “Basket” Dogs are among the most sought after — and rarest — forms within Staffordshire production. Modeled with elongated bodies and beautifully detailed fur, this example holds a delicately painted basket of flowers at its mouth, a charming and symbolic motif associated with devotion and domestic virtue. Large examples of this form are uncommon; to find one is rare. The creamy glaze, expressive wide-set eyes, and softly modeled features give it remarkable personality — the kind of piece that quietly anchors a mantel, entry table, or library shelf and instantly elevates a room.
