French Gien majolica artichoke serving plate dating to the early 20th century, produced in faience and finished with a pleasing green and cream glaze. The design features raised scrolling leaves framing a central floral motif. A dedicated sauce well sits to one side, traditionally used for melted butter while the spent artichoke leaves are arranged around the plate. Pieces like this were created specifically for artichoke service and remain charming examples of sculptural French tableware.
