Mid 20th century French "Faux Bois" soup and salad bowls by Salins, France, featuring a richly textured faux woodgrain pattern in cream and charcoal tones. This original French ceramic design became highly influential and was later widely copied throughout the American market, including by Martha Stewart collections. The organic asymmetrical forms and hand-drawn linear decoration create a sophisticated rustic modern look perfect for French country or contemporary table settings.
