Enhance your dining experience with this set of 6 midcentury English Willow Pattern luncheon plates. Crafted by Wood & Sons, these plates feature the highly collectible classic blue and white Willow pattern. The Willow pattern is steeped in folklore, telling the romantic story of two lovers. According to legend, the design illustrates the tale of a wealthy mandarin's daughter, who fell in love with her father's humble clerk. Forbidden to marry, the couple eloped, only to be pursued by the mandarin's soldiers. They found refuge on a boat but were eventually discovered and transformed into doves, forever free and together. European size luncheon plates are slightly smaller than dinner plates and larger than salad plates, making them perfect for versatile use. Maker's mark on underside.
