A rare and charming early 19th-century English child’s cup, finished in vibrant canary yellow glaze with shimmering copper lustre and hand-painted floral decoration. Dating to circa 1820, this diminutive mug is a beautiful example of early Staffordshire pottery, when bright glazes and metallic lustres were used to delight both children and adults alike.
Small cups like this were often made as nursery wares or presentation pieces, treasured for their cheerful color and decorative appeal. The bold sunflower-style motif and looping border give this cup a playful, almost storybook quality, while the glowing lustre surface adds warmth and depth.
Though hairline cracks and age wear are visible (see photos), the cup remains solid and displays beautifully—a truly special survivor from the early 1800s.
