An exceptional set of five early 19th-century Staffordshire transferware plates, each bearing the impressed mark of Dixon Austin & Co., Sunderland potteries, England, circa 1810–1820. The pattern features a pastoral red transfer scene bordered by intricate floral detailing, rendered on fine creamware.
Bearing the family name “H.W. Maartens,” these plates carry both history and provenance — a rare feature for creamware of this period. Over two centuries old, they remain in remarkably good condition, with only minor edge wear and surface marks consistent with age. Elegant for display or use in a formal table setting, this set beautifully bridges the worlds of English artistry and timeless utility.
