These late-19th century Victorian English Staffordshire King Charles Spaniels are beautifully modeled with elongated bodies, softly draped ears, and expressive wide-set eyes, richly hand-painted in deep russet and white with detailed fur. They have presence without being fussy—the kind of pieces that quietly anchor a mantel, bookshelf, or entry table and make a room feel layered and thoughtfully collected.
Staffordshire dogs are what started one of our lifelong obsessions. Their popularity traces directly to Queen Victoria’s devotion to her beloved spaniel, Dash, helping cement these figures as symbols of loyalty and refinement on Victorian mantelpieces. They remain one of our favorite things to hunt for in our travels, each pair carrying its own character and charm.
