Antique English Staffordshire Miniature 2.75" King Charles Spaniel Dogs

Mid-19th century English Staffordshire miniature King Charles Spaniels, modeled in the classic seated form with hand-painted iron-red coats over a white ground. Their small scale and expressive faces give them an intimacy that larger mantel pairs simply don’t have. Miniature examples like these were often nestled into cabinets, writing desks, or bedside tables — personal rather than grand. The bold red glaze, softly brushed detailing, and compact proportions are characteristic of early Victorian Staffordshire production.

Their popularity traces directly to Queen Victoria’s devotion to her beloved spaniel, Dash, helping cement these figures as symbols of loyalty and refinement on Victorian mantelpieces.
