Antique Japanese Imari porcelain bowl from the Meiji period (1868–1912). Hand-painted in rich cobalt blue, iron red, and gilt with floral cartouches with scalloped edges. The unglazed base and pitted foot rim are typical of 19th-century export wares. A vibrant and elegant example of classic Imari craftsmanship. Light wear to gilt consistent with age. As would be expected with Meiji Period porcelain, there is not a maker's mark.
