Set of ten mid-19th-century English blue and white Willow pattern 8.75" plates, each with scalloped rims and rich cobalt transfer decoration. Made of earthenware and marked “Warranted Staffordshire,” a stamp used by several leading potteries of the period, including Adams, Clews, and Riley.
The Willow pattern—introduced in England in the late 18th century—became one of the most beloved designs of the Victorian era, celebrated for its intricate pagodas, flowering trees, and the romantic legend of two star-crossed lovers transformed into doves. This set’s vibrant cobalt tones and crisp detailing capture the enduring charm that has graced English tables for over 200 years.
Overall condition is very good, with only a few small edge flaws on two plates and light wear to glaze at the rims; no cracks or hairlines. A rare matched set of ten, perfect for both service and display.
