Rare 19th-C. English Georgian Copper Four Gallon Haystack Jug
Rare 19th-C. English Georgian Copper Four Gallon Haystack Jug
Antique English Copper Four-Gallon "Haystack" Jug , getting its name from its resemblance to a 19th-century haystack. Constructed with the lost art of a brass dovetail seam and adorned with a bold "4 Gallon" inscription on the front. These large jugs are increasingly difficult to find, 4 gallon being one of the most elusive. Inside the lip is official lead weights and measures stamp (denoting authenticated size mandated by the crown). These were used in pubs for Ale (beer).
