A rare and wonderfully preserved 1940s German matchstick-leg sheep, made of composite and wrapped in soft wool. This larger example of the traditional Erzgebirge-style animal features hand-painted details and its original pink neck ribbon, giving it an endearing, timeworn appeal. Once part of small pastoral toy displays or Christmas nativity scenes, these figures were crafted with remarkable charm and simplicity — each one a miniature reflection of rural life and holiday tradition.
A delightful piece for collectors of early European folk toys or those who appreciate the humble artistry of prewar craftsmanship. Unsigned / unmarked.
