1930s English silverplate ashtray by the celebrated firm Mappin & Webb, featuring an enamel flag badge for the S.S. Arandora Star. Originally launched in 1927 for the Blue Star Line, the vessel later became historically significant following its wartime sinking by German U-boat off the Irish coast in 1940. Produced as a souvenir for a 1931 Christmas cruise, this piece combines elegant Art Deco styling with remarkable maritime history and collector appeal.
