An exceptionally rare set of eight Creil et Montereau “Muguet” plates, beautifully decorated with hand-painted lily of the valley blossoms and framed by softly raised relief borders. Produced in France in the early 19th century, this pattern is among the most sought-after from the celebrated Creil et Montereau factory—renowned for elevating French faience and creamware from the late 18th century onward.
The “Muguet” pattern embodies the romantic naturalism of the period, with delicate florals symbolizing renewal, happiness, and spring. Complete service sets in this design are scarcely found, making this group especially desirable for collectors of French ceramics.
Each plate bears the impressed Creil et Montereau mark. Light enamel wear, small nicks, and surface variations are consistent with age and attest to their authenticity and long history of use.
Equally suited for display or special-occasion table settings, this set offers both historical significance and timeless decorative charm.
