Antique English Wrought Iron Dinner Bell

English dinner gong with a cast iron "branch" frame. Classic Aesthetic Movement styling. This is one of the most unique that we have found. As was the custom in most British Estates the cooks/servers used a gong to announce dinner. The first footman sounded the gong at 7pm to alert the family and their guests that it is time to go up to dress for dinner. It was this tradition that became a vital part of the English aristocratic lifestyle and is depicted in many movies.
